Job Description:

Metro Prep High School, Grade School and Laureate Day School have been educating and supporting students with special needs for over 25 years supported by FGC.

Using a multidisciplinary approach, Metro Prep and Laureate Day School provides educational and therapeutic learning opportunities in a small, nurturing environment. This allows our staff to tailor each student’s program to meet his or her individual needs.

Our staff is comprised of state-certified special education teachers and state-licensed counselors. The Principal and Clinical Director oversee the administration of school operations and therapeutic programming. Our milieu is small by design and we maintain an optimal student to teacher ratio of 5:1 or 10:2. We believe that this ensures the best instructional environment for our students and promotes prompt clinical availability.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • To maintain clinical responsibility for all diagnostic referrals.
  • To maintain a schedule of enrolled student’s MDC triennial dates.
  • To coordinate with each students case management team and referring school district to begin MDC process.
  • To maintain contact with referring school districts and relevant Metro Prep/LDS personnel throughout the evaluation/re-evaluation process.
  • To conduct family tours and meetings for enrollment of diagnostic placements.
  • To remain in contact with families to complete a diagnostic assessment and coordinate any necessary follow-up.
  • To conduct diagnostic testing and supervise the testing of graduate students assigned to the diagnostic team.
  • To collaborate with co-workers throughout the diagnostic process regarding their testing/reports.
  • To conduct meetings with the diagnostic team upon a student’s arrival prior to testing and after the testing is complete to discuss results prior to goal writing.
  • To coordinate and lead the running and completion of the paperwork and/or meetings of the MDC/IEP with the referring school district.
  • To maintain clinical documentation of any on-going clinical work.
  • To implement school disciplinary procedures as necessary.
  • To attend all required staff meetings and in-services.
  • To meet weekly with the Clinical Director in supervision.
  • To participate in weekly Case Conference Presentation.
  • To establish and maintain an inventory of diagnostic materials.
  • To participate in the shared duties and responsibilities necessary to the functioning of the milieu and school community as specified by administration.
  • To update progress on diagnostic referrals/re-evaluations in a timely manner.
  • To complete written reports on student's evaluations and re-evaluations in a timely manner prior to the MDC meeting.
  • To coordinate the completion of any other related summaries/reports that might be part of the re-evaluation/evaluation process.
  • To assist staff in crisis intervention and physical management as needed.
