Job Description:

Metro Prep High School, Grade School and Laureate Day School have been educating and supporting students with special needs for over 25 years supported by FGC.

Using a multidisciplinary approach, Metro Prep and Laureate Day School provides educational and therapeutic learning opportunities in a small, nurturing environment. This allows our staff to tailor each student’s program to meet his or her individual needs.

Our staff is comprised of state-certified special education teachers and state-licensed counselors. The Principal and Clinical Director oversee the administration of school operations and therapeutic programming. Our milieu is small by design and we maintain an optimal student to teacher ratio of 5:1 or 10:2. We believe that this ensures the best instructional environment for our students and promotes prompt clinical availability.

Metro Prep Therapeutic high school in Arlington Heights has an immediate opening for a Full Time Bi- Lingual English- Spanish therapist. Newly licensed or licensed eligible professionals encouraged to apply.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

  • To maintain clinical responsibility for a full caseload of students and their families.
  • To collaborate with co-workers in the implementation of the IEP.
  • To conduct individual psychotherapy on a weekly basis as designated on the IEP.
  • To conduct family therapy sessions as needed.
  • To lead or co-lead scheduled therapeutic groups and substance treatment groups weekly.
  • To maintain clinical documentation of clinical work:
  • IEP goal tracking.
  • Quarterly progress notes
  • Incident reports as needed.
  • Therapeutic summaries as needed.
  • To attend district staffing as required.
  • To implement school disciplinary procedures as necessary.
  • To attend all required staff meetings and in-services.
  • To meet weekly with the Clinical Director/Clinical Coordinator in supervision.
  • To participate in weekly Case Conference Presentation.
  • To participate in the shared duties and responsibilities necessary to the functioning of the milieu and school community as specified by administration.
  • To update progress on IEP quarterly or as needed.
  • To complete written report on student’s progress quarterly or as needed.
  • To assist staff in crisis intervention and physical management as needed.
  • To chaperone field trips as needed.
  • To assist in Arrival and Dismissal as needed.
  • To adhere to and support the philosophy of Metro Prep and Laureate Day School.
  • To perform other duties assigned.

Work hours: Monday thru Friday 8:00 am - 3:30 pm

Summer schedule: M,T,TH,F: 8:00am - 12:30pm. Wednesdays 8:00am - 3:30 pm

Location: 2525 E. Oakton Suite D8

Starting salary: $42,000/yr (Based on experience)



Experience and Skills:

Education and/or Experience: Master’s degree in Psychology, Social Work or related field. Appropriate licensure. Documented experience working with children and adolescents and their families in a therapeutic environment required. Must be psychodynamic in orientation. Position is 12 months. Must be at minimum, conversationally fluent in both English and Spanish. Experience in special education: ED, LD, OHI, DD & AUT helpful. Individual therapy, group therapy, milieu intervention, and family involvement all part of position. Will train. Salary and benefits commensurate with experience.
