Job Description:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: To provide quality phlebotomy services to patients throughout FGC Chicagoland sites and excellent customer service to guests and fellow FGC staff members. Provides administrative support to nursing and medical services staff. Position requires access to a reliable personal vehicle, including a current and valid driver’s license with valid automobile insurance. Candidate will be reimbursed for mileage. 

Normal phlebotomy Duties and Responsibilities

 a. Specimen collection of blood, urine and oral fluid for medical screening and diagnostic purposes; this will include Vivitrol and any grant related projects.

b. Completion of requisitions required for processing results; responsible for preparation needed for mailing and processes results via laboratory portal and facsimile.

c. Responsible for forwarding results to FGC program physician(s) for review; communicates with nurse managers to ensure medical referrals get processed in a timely manner.

d. Responsible for the timely documentation in FGC electronic medical records of the aforementioned responsibilities.

e. Accurately maintains logs of all specimen collection(s).

f. Travel to and from various FGC satellites assigned on collection days (Joliet, Aurora, Des Plaines)

 Administrative and Clerical Support Duties and Responsibilities

 a. Responsible for the inventory and ordering of phlebotomy, medical and nursing department supplies.

b. Assists with filing, scanning, faxing and clerical duties with the nursing & medical departments.

c. Assists program physician(s) with ILPMP requirements.

d. Responsible for data entry, tracking and disposition of all internal and external referrals from County Care.

e. Assists physician with compliance for the signing of treatment plans.

f. Responsible for completing FGC program physician(s) weekly schedule for history & physical examinations.

g. Responsible for completing monthly billing logs for history and physical examinations.

h. Responsible for assisting nurse managers in data collection for infection control reports.

i. Performs other duties as assigned.

Compensation:16.00/Hr. 

Location: The candidate will be required to float between three locations, Des Plaines, Aurora, and Joliet, and will be reimbursed for mileage.

Experience and Skills:

 Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or equivalent with phlebotomy certification. At least 2 years of full-time experience in drawing blood and their preparation for laboratory processing. Must possess knowledge of blood-borne pathogens and universal precautions principles. Experience with Microsoft Word & Excel software programs.

 

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: The position requires phlebotomy certification recognized by the state of Illinois.

 

Schedule: Monday through Friday6:00am-2:30pm, and available for Saturday coverage as needed.
