Job Description:

Metro Prep High School, Grade School and Laureate Day School have been educating and supporting students with special needs for over 25 years supported by FGC.

Using a multidisciplinary approach, Metro Prep and Laureate Day School provides educational and therapeutic learning opportunities in a small, nurturing environment. This allows our staff to tailor each student’s program to meet his or her individual needs.

Our staff is comprised of state-certified special education teachers and state-licensed counselors. The Principal and Clinical Director oversee the administration of school operations and therapeutic programming. Our milieu is small by design and we maintain an optimal student to teacher ratio of 5:1 or 10:2. We believe that this ensures the best instructional environment for our students and promotes prompt clinical availability.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • To provide support to students during the program.
  • To participate in the shared duties and responsibilities necessary to the functioning of the milieu and school community on a daily basis as specified by the Recreational therapist.
  • To assist with the following tasks:
    • Xeroxing
    • Documenting behaviors on point sheets
    • Tallying % on points sheets
    • Create structured activities
    • Laminating
    • To lead recreational activities during recess time.
    • To assist in arrival and dismissal of students.
    • To help maintain group rules during group activities.
    • To assist staff in crisis intervention and physical management as needed.
    • To complete and submit incident reports when necessary.
    • To help maintain a cleanly and organized program area.
    • To assist in snack and lunch preparation.
    • To chaperone field trips as needed.
    • To adhere to and support the philosophy of Metro Prep and Laureate Day School.
    • To attend all required staff meetings and in-services.
    • To perform other duties as assigned.

Number of Open Positions: 3

Schedule: Monday thru Friday 11:30-4:45pm

Preferred Start date: June 7,2021

Duration: June 7-August 13

Experience and Skills:

Education and/or Experience:  30 semester hours college credit, pass paraprofessional exam or graduated from a paraprofessional program
