Job Description:

Metro Prep High School, Grade School and Laureate Day School have been educating and supporting students with special needs for over 25 years supported by FGC.

Using a multidisciplinary approach, Metro Prep and Laureate Day School provides educational and therapeutic learning opportunities in a small, nurturing environment. This allows our staff to tailor each student’s program to meet his or her individual needs.

Our staff is comprised of state-certified special education teachers and state-licensed counselors. The Principal and Clinical Director oversee the administration of school operations and therapeutic programming. Our milieu is small by design and we maintain an optimal student to teacher ratio of 5:1 or 10:2. We believe that this ensures the best instructional environment for our students and promotes prompt clinical availability.

We are currently seeking an innovative Teacher Aide with the daily responsibilities of:

  • To assist during arrival and dismissal of students
  • To help teacher maintain classroom and school rules
  • To attend all scheduled meetings
  • To actively participate and give feedback during litany and other meetings.
  • To assist teacher with the following tasks: Xeroxing, grading student assignments , documenting behaviors on point sheets, tallying % on point sheets.
  • To participate in weekly planning
  • To help students both academically and socially
  • To assist teacher when implementing individual, small group and large group lessons
  • To assist teacher in maintaining and upkeep an inventory of classroom materials
  • To help plan and chaperone school field trips and level events
  • To provide 1:1 assistance for students when needed
  • To escort students through building when needed
  • To assist staff in crisis intervention and physical management
  • To help maintain milieu management when no students are in class
  • To adhere to and support the philosophy of Metro Prep and Laureate Day School
  • To perform duties as assigned by the principal, assistant principal or coordinators

Regular School Year Schedule: Monday - Friday  (8:00a - 3:30p)

Summer School Session Schedule: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday (8:00a - 12:30p); Wednesday (8:00a - 3:30p)

Experience and Skills:

Education and/or Experience: 30 semester hours college credit, pass paraprofessional exam or graduated from a paraprofessional program; Bachelor's degree preferred

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: State issued paraprofessional licenses, TCI, State issued substitute certificate
