Job Description:

Metropolitan Preparatory and Laureate Day School serve students ages five to twenty-one who have experienced limited success in traditional special education programs.  Our students have been identified as having a(n) Emotional/Behavioral Disorder (ED/BD), Learning Disability (LD), Other Health Impairment (OHI), Autism and/or  Developmental Delay (DD) by the public school and Section 14-7.02 of the Illinois School Code (105 ILCS 5/14-7.02). 

A Student Support Manager monitors students throughout the school day using behavioral support techniques, intervention strategies, and works collaboratively with other professionals to teach students coping and problem solving skills

 

Essential Duties:

  • To manage behavioral incidents within the milieu and to provide support to students who are struggling emotionally and behaviorally.
  • To provide a student with 1:1 support during a crisis.
  • To supervise a student during an in school suspension.
  • To adhere to and support the philosophy of Metro Prep and Laureate Day School.
  • To implement school disciplinary procedures as necessary.
  • To attend all required staff meetings and in-services.
  • To participate in the shared duties and responsibilities necessary to the functioning of the day-to-day and school community as specified by administration.
  • To assist staff in crisis intervention and physical management as needed.
  • To assist student’s with sensory breaks, time away, and help assist with sensory tools.
  • To chaperone field trips as needed.
  • To assist in Arrival and Dismissal as needed.
  • To monitor students during lunch.
  • To perform other duties as assigned

Number of Position Openings: 8

Regular School Year Schedule: Monday-Friday (8:00a- 3 :30p)

Summer Session Schedule: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday (8:30a - 12:30p) , Wednesday  (8:00a -3:30p)

Experience and Skills:

Education and/or Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Social Work or Counseling; Documented experience working with children and adolescents and their families in a therapeutic environment.
