Job Description:

                                                                                                                        $500: After 3 months of employment

                                                                                         Must pass a federal background check and drug screening as a requirement.

 

Essential Duties:

  • Coordination and oversight of all PREA activities 
  • Identify best practices in conjunction with DOJ existing best practices and tools regarding PREA to support development of policies and procedures at FGC’S BOP/RRC/MINT programs with respect to improving access to rape crisis and emotional support services for inmate victims of sexual abuse
  • Conduct outreach to community based agencies already doing work regarding PREA to help inform activities 
  • Engage in system advocacy by reviewing and giving feedback to DOJ regarding existing or proposed PREA policies
  • Plan and provide trainings regarding sexual violence, prevention, confidentiality and PREA standards. Maintain annual compliance training 
  • Increase BOP personnel’s knowledge of effective responses to sexual violence in this community confinement facility, including addressing the needs of specialized populations (e.g. LCBTI, mentally ill, developmentally disabled and disciplinary) 
  • Facilitate and coordinate cross-training activities regarding the roles and responsibilities of FGC’s Sexual Assault Response Teams (SARTs) members
  • Provide ongoing technical assistance and related information and resources 
  • Conduct outreach and coordination with community based agencies local rape crisis programs 
  • Create a local/regional plan in collaboration with the rape crisis programs, to effectively engage FGC BOP staff, law enforcement, contract oversight specialist, medical and mental health professional in addressing PREA
  • Plan, convene, facilitate, and/or attend meetings to develop collaborations to establish or strength SARTs specifically to address PREA
  • If needed, develop a reimbursement rate schedule and process for rape and counseling, victim advocacy and related services 
  • Develop and implement a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to outline rape crisis and mental health programs responsibilities with FGC Springfield location
  • Responsible for all PREA audits to maintain a minimal of satisfactory performance compliance for BOP contract requirements
  • Complete required annual PREA reports and submit to supervisor for website approval
  • Participate in professional development and represent FGC on all PREA committees, meetings, community events, conferences and listservs
  • Possesses a working knowledge of FGC PREA Standard Operating Procedures, and all applicable licensing rules, regulations, independent outside contract guidelines and prohibitions

 

 

 

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday (7:00a - 3:30p)

Start Date: ASAP

Work Location: 120 N. 11th St, Springfield, IL

Pay Rate: Up to $47,000; based on experience

Experience and Skills:

Education and/or Experience:  High School Diploma/GED required. Bachelor degree (or higher) in Addiction Counseling, Psychology, Criminal Justice, Social Work, Counseling, or a closely related curriculum, from an accredited institution preferred.  

 

Certification, Licensed, Registrations: Valid Illinois driver’s license and insurance. The employee will be required to travel, driving their own vehicle.
